On a perfect summer evening on July 7th, 2024, the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor, Maine, hosted an unforgettable concert featuring Jason Mraz and the SuperBand, with special guests Ripe. The lightly clouded sky provided an ideal backdrop for an energetic and soulful night of music.

The evening kicked off with Ripe, a band known for their high-energy performances and eclectic mix of funk, rock, and pop. Their set was a dynamic opener that got the crowd moving and set the tone for the night. Highlights included the infectious grooves of “Five in the Morning,” the funky “Stanky,” and their spirited cover of The Kinks’ “Lola.” The band’s performance of “Queen of the City” and “First Time Feeling” showcased their musical versatility and knack for catchy melodies. The crowd’s enthusiasm was palpable, particularly during “Flipside” and “Downward,” with everyone dancing and singing along. Ripe concluded their set with the vibrant “Pretty Dirty (In the Fading Light),” leaving the audience primed and ready for the main event.

Jason Mraz and the SuperBand took the stage next, opening with “Getting Started,” a fitting choice to kick off a set that felt like a journey through Mraz’s expansive musical career. The laid-back “Feel Good Too” and the ever-popular “The Remedy (I Won’t Worry)” had the audience swaying and singing along from the get-go. Mraz’s performance was marked by his signature blend of heartfelt lyrics and playful, engaging stage presence.

One of the standout moments was the duet “Be Where Your Feet Are,” featuring Billy Galewood, which added a layer of camaraderie and warmth to the performance. Mraz’s reflective “Good Old Daze” and the medley of “Traveler / Make It Mine” further showcased his lyrical prowess and ability to connect with the audience on a personal level.

The crowd was treated to a delightful surprise when American Idol contestant Julia Gagnon joined Mraz on stage for a beautiful rendition of “Lucky,” which was both tender and uplifting. The energy soared with “Pancakes & Butter” and “Disco Sun,” two tracks that brought a fun, summery vibe to the evening.

As the set neared its end, Mraz delivered moving performances of “93 Million Miles” and “I Won’t Give Up,” songs that resonated deeply with the audience. “Have It All” closed out the main set on a high note, with its optimistic message leaving everyone in high spirits.

For the encore, Mraz and the SuperBand returned with the playful “You Might Like It,” followed by the timeless hit “I’m Yours,” which turned into a massive sing-along, uniting the audience in a shared moment of joy. The night concluded with “I Feel Like Dancing,” a lively and fitting end to an evening that celebrated music, connection, and the pure joy of live performance.

Overall, the concert at the Maine Savings Amphitheater was a memorable experience, marked by stellar performances from both Ripe and Jason Mraz. The beautiful summer setting, combined with the musicians’ talent and the crowd’s enthusiasm, made for an unforgettable night of music under the Maine sky.
