Opening the show, Chris Ross gave the crowd gathered for Marc Cohn a wonderful solo performance Thursday evening. Now performing with his band, The North, it was great to see him back at the mic with just his guitar. Starting with his local radio favorite, “Annabelle,” Ross moved through his short set sharing bits about each song with gentle humor. My favorite line from the evening came before Ross performed “Burns,” and I’m paraphrasing: The songs I write tend to be sad, but sometimes I get lucky and they come out angry. Well, angry, sad, wistful, whatever – it all works, and fans in the crowd were happy, sharing that they thought Ross’ vocals were fantastic. Head to to check out the summer show schedule for the band and pick up the latest release, Young Once.
